Whitchurch
Villager, March 16th
As a
relatively recent incomer into
Buckinghamshire, I found the content quite
moving. More importantly, I was impressed
by the professionalism with which the
protest was conducted and sustained and,
last, but not least, recorded on this
DVD.

I received
'Over Our Dead Bodies' as a Christmas
present, and was involved with the
thankfully short resurrection of the WARA
campaign in 1979. The DVD is a terrific
record of social history and provides all
sorts of insights for people who view it
in years to come. Many thanks to those who
had the foresight to record things at the
time, and to John Flewin for putting this
excellent production together.

We watched
the DVD of the WARA fight against London's
Third Airport and found the presentation
very professional and well balanced.
Congratulations. For us personally it
rekindled many memories of that time and
although there was a great deal of
anxiety, in hind sight the emotion that
stays with you is the community spirit
that we all felt so strongly and the
thankfulness for being able to continue to
live together here in this area.

Thank
you for sending the DVD so promptly. We
have enjoyed watching it and it evoked
lots of memories. We had both just moved
into the area while the campaign was going
on and were very aware of it but weren't
actually involved. However, the DVD has
been a real insight into what went on.
Thank you very much and good luck with
your efforts.

Present
day aircraft noise campaigner Rachel
Webb,
for the Stewkley Grapevine, published
October 1st:
"A
dramatic and emotive record of people's
fear, anger, humour, spirit and ingenuity
when faced with the unfaceable ...
although the main economic and social
arguments are covered, it is more about
how people channelled their emotions ...
Colin Buchanan and Cleo Laine get
mentions, but the star attractions are
really the Graces, Beasleys, Keens,
Hounslows, Willises, Walducks, Tatthams
and many other local families, some of
whom have lived here for over 500 years.
For those who participated in the airport
resistance, OVER
OUR
DEAD
BODIES
will be a source of nostalgia and pride;
for historians and social scientists it
will provide invaluable primary data; for
politicians and planners, it will be a
lesson in humanity; for economists, a
lesson in humility."
